National Friends of Libraries Week

FOLIG would set aside a week every year as a National Friends of the Library Week. It offers two-fold opportunity to celebrate friends and use the time to creatively promote your group in the community, to raise awareness and to promote membership. This is also an excellent opportunity for our libraries and board of trustees to recognize the friends for their help and support of the library. Date would to be established.

Teen Read Week

This week is aimed at teens, their parents, libraries, educators, booksellers and other concerned adults. The continuing message of the Teen Read Week initiative is to encourage 12-18 year olds to ‘Read for the Fun of It”. Each year an annual theme allows Friends to focus on timely topics and teen interests. Date to be established.

World Book Day

World Book Day or World Book and Copyright Day is a yearly event on April 23rd, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to promote reading, publishing and copyright. FOLIG would utilize such World Book Day to promote reading culture in our societies through any available media.
